President Bola Tinubu issued a stark warning about Nigeria’s financial future, asserting that the nation could not sustain itself while using 90 percent of its revenue to service external debt.

Tinubu, whose administration has been marked by a reputation for effective governance, emphasized the urgent need for profound and often difficult changes to secure Nigeria’s position among the world’s leading nations.

“Can we continue to service external debts with 90% of our revenue? It is a path to destruction. It is not sustainable. We must make the very difficult changes that are necessary for our country to get up from slumber and be respected among the great nations of the world,” President Tinubu declared passionately.

“To build a great nation, we must make bold decisions; even though it may be painful at the moment, it is not about you and me. It is about our generation yet unborn.”

President Tinubu’s commitment to a prosperous Nigeria extended to addressing the nation’s dire electricity situation.

He labeled the persistent power outages as “shameful” and underlined the pivotal role electricity plays in alleviating poverty.

“How can we address poverty without electricity? We can take many people out of poverty with an uninterrupted electricity supply. Poverty is not acceptable, and we must banish it.”

While touching upon the issue of remuneration for judicial officers, President Tinubu stressed that genuine justice reform must begin with world-class salaries and benefits for legal professionals in Nigeria.

The President’s bold vision for Nigeria has garnered widespread support, with the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Yakubu Maikyau, SAN, expressing unreserved confidence in Tinubu’s ability to deliver good governance.

Maikyau referenced Tinubu’s exceptional performance as the Governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007, stating, “President Tinubu got it right in Lagos, and it is our considered expectation that as President of Nigeria, you will not only replicate your achievements in Lagos but surpass them for our country.”

As Nigeria faces these pressing challenges head-on, President Tinubu’s call for decisive action has resonated with many who see in him a leader determined to secure a brighter future for the nation.

His commitment to addressing the debt crisis, providing stable electricity, and enhancing the judicial system could mark a turning point in Nigeria’s journey towards progress and prosperity.
