- Japanese Firm to Create 30,000 Jobs in Expansion Drive
A Japanese designer brand, Miniso, has opened outlets inside the six high-brow shopping malls in Lagos in line with the Federal Government’s quest for foreign direct investment.
According to the Country Manager, Miniso, Mr. Chris Lee, the firm was planning to create employment by establishing 500 stores across Nigeria by 2019, noting that the brand was committed to employing about 30,000 Nigerians and establishing a university to transfer knowledge of retail trade to Nigerians.
According to Lee, the firm records an average monthly growth rate of 80 – 100 stores across Europe, Asia and America.
He said, “The firm’s products include home necessities, health and beauty products, fashion, gadgets, digital accessories as well as stationeries.”
He disclosed that Miniso would inaugurate three major malls in Lagos during the first week of September, adding that it would also open three more stores in malls along Festac, Maryland and Lekki at the end of September.
Lee said that the firm would procure most of its raw materials locally in the long run.
Nollywood actress, Stephanie Linus, was unveiled as the brand ambassador of Miniso.
“She was chosen based on the firm’s philosophy of simple, natural and quality,” the Marketing Communications Manager, Miniso, Miss Colette Atane, said.
