Tinubu Appoints Ayo Fayose REA Chairman, Names 25 Others to Federal Agencies

President Bola Tinubu has approved 26 appointments across 10 federal agencies and commissions, including the selection of former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose as chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).

Fayose will lead the REA board alongside Ahmadu Abubakar and Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta, who were appointed members and non-executive directors.

REA Managing Director Abba Abubakar Aliyu and the agency’s three existing executive directors will complete the board.

The agency is responsible for expanding electricity access in underserved communities and supporting off-grid and renewable-energy projects across Nigeria.

Tinubu Reconstitutes Wages Commission

Major General Junaid Bindawa was appointed chairman of the National Salary and Wages Commission, while former Lagos federal lawmaker Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas will serve as its secretary.

Ogbole Ene Lilian, Oladele Olatubosun and Yakubu Umar Barde were appointed commissioners representing Benue, Oyo and Kaduna states, respectively.

Other members named to the commission are Mai Adamu Yau from Borno, Ginika Florence Tor from Enugu, Lawrence Okoh from Edo and Bello Morenike Iyabode from Kogi.

The commission advises the government on compensation structures and remuneration within the public sector.

New Leadership for NBET, NPC and Atomic Energy Commission

Akinola Odeyemi was appointed managing director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc.

NBET operates as an intermediary in the electricity market, purchasing power from generation companies and selling it to distribution companies and other eligible participants.

Abuh Mohammed was named director-general of the National Population Commission, while Anthony Inalegwu Godwin was appointed chairman and chief executive officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.

Julius Oloro will become chief executive officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation in Kwara State. He replaces A.R. Kamal, who died in January.

Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, previously executive secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund, was reassigned as secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission.

Fiscal Responsibility Commission Gets New Board

The President appointed Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as chairman of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission.

Other members of the commission’s board are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.

The commission monitors fiscal management by public institutions and promotes compliance with the Fiscal Responsibility Act.

Shuni Muhammad Dahiru was appointed executive secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education.

He replaces Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was transferred to the Petroleum Technology Development Fund in April.

Gisaor Vincent Iorja was also appointed executive director of finance at the Federal Housing Authority.

Iorja replaces Mathias Byuan, who resigned to contest the Benue State governorship election. Before the appointment, Iorja served as secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission.

According to the State House announcement issued by presidential adviser Bayo Onanuga on July 20, all 26 appointments take immediate effect.
