Seplat Energy Achieves First Gas at 300 MMscfd ANOH Gas Project

Seplat Energy Plc has achieved first gas at its 300 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) ANOH Gas Processing Plant, a major milestone in Nigeria’s domestic gas development drive.

In a statement issued on January 20, 2026, the company said gas supply commenced on Friday, January 16, 2026 following completion of the 11-kilometre Indorama gas export pipeline and receipt of regulatory approvals from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission.

The project is operated by ANOH Gas Processing Company (AGPC), an incorporated joint venture between Seplat Energy and the Nigerian Gas Infrastructure Company.

Initial production has stabilised at 40–52 MMscfd of processed gas, delivered directly to the Indorama Petrochemical Plant, while condensate output has reached 2.0–2.5 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day, with volumes expected to rise as the facility ramps up to full capacity.

Seplat said preparations are underway to commence processed gas sales to Nigeria LNG under an interruptible offtake arrangement, a move expected to support further scaling towards the plant’s full 300 MMscfd design capacity.

Construction of the OB3 pipeline, designated as the primary domestic evacuation route for ANOH gas and being developed by the Nigerian Gas Infrastructure Company, has also resumed, with a revised completion timeline to be communicated later.

The ANOH gas plant comprises two 150 MMscfd processing trains, LPG recovery and condensate stabilisation units, and a 16-megawatt power plant, and has been designed to operate with zero routine flaring.

The facility unlocks an estimated 4.6 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of condensate-rich gas across the unitised OML 53 and OML 21, with Seplat’s 2P reserves in the field standing at 0.8 Tcf as at year-end 2024.

Seplat is expected to generate value from wet gas sales to the ANOH plant as well as dividends from its 50 percent equity interest in AGPC.

The company also said LPG output from ANOH, combined with production from its Sapele and Bonny River Terminal facilities, will position it as a leading domestic supplier of clean cooking fuel.

The company noted that the ANOH project was delivered without a single Lost Time Incident, despite more than 17.5 million man-hours recorded during construction.

Chief Executive Officer Roger Brown said the ANOH project is the first of seven critical gas developments identified by the Federal Government to reach operations, adding that it increases Seplat’s joint venture onshore gas processing capacity to over 850 MMscfd.

He said the project will support income growth, lower carbon intensity, and contribute to the company’s 2030 production target of 200,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, while expanding access to power and clean cooking fuel in Nigeria.
