Moniepoint has partnered with Afrigopay Financial Services Limited to boost the adoption of Nigeria’s National Domestic Card Scheme called the AfriGO Card.
The partnership will ensure a cost-effective global transaction and cut down on the nation’s reliance on foreign exchange for international card transactions.
In a statement, Moniepoint revealed that the collaboration would leverage its extensive network to promote AfriGO’s contactless payment system by allowing users to complete transactions by tapping or hovering their cards or NFC-enabled devices over a payment terminal.
“Our collaboration with AfriGO aligns with our commitment to engineering financial happiness for every Nigerian while ensuring convenience, transparency, and security in contactless payments. The Moniepoint/AfriGO card is more than just a product—it is a critical tool that will extend our reach, particularly to those excluded from the formal financial system,” said Tosin Eniolorunda, CEO of Moniepoint Inc.
The Managing Director and CEO of Afrigopay, Mrs. Ebehijie Momoh, described the partnership as a transformative step for financial service delivery in Nigeria.
“This collaboration is set to revolutionise financial service delivery, particularly in underserved areas, by leveraging AfriGO’s innovative payment solutions,” she stated.
Afrigopay is a subsidiary of the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS).
Experts have said there is a growing demand for secure and affordable digital payment options.
As Nigeria’s payment landscape evolves, the Moniepoint-Afrigopay partnership could play a pivotal role in promoting financial inclusion and enhancing the efficiency of digital payments nationwide.
