In a somewhat thoughtful market strategy, Aero Contractors, a Nigerian airline, has announced a minimum ticket price of N80,000 for local flights across its routes during the festive season.

The airline’s Managing Director, Ado Sanusi, disclosed this during a briefing with journalists, saying the initiative is a means to alleviate the financial burden on Nigerians amid the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

Sanusi said the decision will be effective through January 2024, noting that it is part of the company’s commitment to giving back to its customers during the holidays.

Underscoring the need to mitigate the economic hardship bedeviling the nation, the management of the airline said many passengers have been struggling to meet up with high ticket prices.

Sensing that the holiday seasons are close at hand, Sanusi said the company, in the spirit of Christmas, introduced what it termed “Pocket-friendly Christmas prices.”

He said the reduced fares start at N80,000, noting that it will apply to all destinations that Aero Contractors ply.

The MD said the company would ensure Nigerians travel without excessive costs in the festive periods.

Checks revealed that as of Tuesday afternoon, a Lagos-to-Abuja economy ticket on Aero Contractors was priced at N99,643, while business class tickets were sold for N189,167.

Sanusi explained that the airline designed the initiative to ensure families can reunite during the holidays without breaking the bank.

He said the airline has long history of serving Nigerians and giving back to its loyal customers.

Assuring customers that the airline would still make its gains despite the price slash, Sanusi maintained that the joy of seeing families reconnect and bond with loved ones during this festive season without worrying about exorbitant travel costs is its motivating factor.
