Business and employment-focused social media platform that works through websites and mobile apps LinkedIn, has introduced three verification options to help users detect fake accounts and boost authenticity on the platform.
The company has recently rolled out three additional ways to help users verify their identity and where they work. These features will be free and available to all users.
As part of its efforts to boost authenticity on the platform, LinkedIn has partnered with CLEAR, a secure identity platform, to provide verification for its members in the US. Beginning this month, users will be able to display on their profile that they verified their identity with CLEAR. All that is required is a U.S. government-issued ID and a U.S. phone number.
Also, given the professionalism of LinkedIn, the platform seeks to enable users across the globe to verify their workplace using a company-issued email address. The platform disclosed that it will be rolling out this feature to companies in the coming months, also expanding their eligibility.
In another verification feature, LinkedIn has partnered with Microsoft to allow organizations to leverage the Microsoft Entra Verified ID platform to issue digital workplace IDs for free, enabling workers to display the verification on their LinkedIn profile.
The platform plans to roll out this feature at the end of April while ensuring to make it available to dozens of participating companies reaching more than two million LinkedIn members.
Through all these newly introduced features which are free to all members, LinkedIn seeks to boost users’ confidence by ensuring that they are connecting with authentic and trusted users.
Investors King understands that this is not the first verification features that LinkedIn is rolling out. In October 2022, the platform introduced an “About this profile” feature that will show users when a profile was created and last updated, along with whether the member has a verified phone number and/or work email associated with their account.
LinkedIn believes that this feature will help users make informed decisions such as when they are deciding whether to accept a connection request or reply to a message.
As companies across the globe continue to report a rise in fraudulent activities on the internet, LinkedIn has swung into action by rolling out verification features to mitigate such fraudulent activities on its platform, as part of its commitment to keeping LinkedIn a trusted professional community.
