On October 10, 2022, ValueJet became the latest airline to enter the commercial wing of the Nigerian aviation industry with a flight from Lagos to Abuja.

The airline which received its Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) last month will operate a series of domestic routes from Terminal 2 at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS).

Its operation routes include Lagos to Abuja (ABV), Port Harcourt (PHC), Jos (JOS), and Asaba (ABB). The management however disclosed that flights to more destinations will be launched as additional aircraft join the fleet.

Investors King learnt that ValueJet currently operates three Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft, each seating 90 passengers.

It will be recalled that earlier this year, ValueJet took delivery of its first two CRJ900s, which previously belonged to Spanish regional carrier, Air Nostrum. They were later joined by one more CRJ900 that had been operating for Lufthansa CityLine.

Chairman of ValueJet, Kunle Soname who is also the founder of Bet9ja noted that the airline is not entirely new in the industry as all operational insights from previous partnerships have been applied in building the airline’s business plan and propositions.

A closer look at the airline’s itinerary shows that it will operate twice daily from Lagos to Abuja while it will fly daily from Lagos to Port Harcourt and three times weekly from Lagos to both Jos and Asaba.

The airline aims to offer both low-cost services to attract low-income earners. Its legacy options are ValueLite, ValuePremium and ValueXtra.

It could be said that ValueJet will be competing with an array of domestic airlines such as Airpeace, MaxAir and Arik Air which have many years of experience and several local routes per day.

However, the management of the airline believed it has the right service, pricing template and amazing offers which many Nigerians will love to subscribe to.

It will be recalled that the airline recently concluded its ‘First Flight On Us’ promo. Customers who booked their round trips with ValueJet between 4th and 9th of October 2022 were offered free trips on their first flight.
