NECO Exams Start Today, See Timetable

National Examination Council of Nigeria (NECO) commences its 2020 June/July SSCE examination today, Monday, 9th of November, 2020.

The first exam of the day is Agricultural science practical, while objective and Essay exam for government paper will be the second and last exam of the day, respectively.

The NECO exam will end on Saturday, 28th of November, 2020.

SCHOOLS AND CANDIDATES SHOULD NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

  1. PRACTICAL IN SCIENCES, STENOGRAPHY, COMPUTER STUDIES & DATA PROCESSING CAN BE IN SETS WHERE THE NUMBER OF CANDIDATES IS LARGE AND THE EQUIPMENT CANNOT GO ROUND.
  2. VISUAL ARTS PAPER IV [CREATIVE DESIGN] SHOULD BE GIVEN TO CANDIDATES AT LEAST ONE WEEK BEFORE THE EXAMINATION DATE.
  3. WELDING & FABRICATION, ENGINEERING CRAFT PRACTICE SHOULD BE GIVEN TO CANDIDATES AT LEAST THREE WEEKS BEFORE THE EXAMINATION DATE.
  4. ALBINOS AND BLIND CANDIDATES ARE TO BE ALLOWED 30 EXTRA MINUTES AT THE END OF EACH SUBJECT.
  5. BLIND CANDIDATES MUST MAKE USE OF THE NECO SUPPLIED OBR CUSTOMISED BRAILLE SHEET FOR THE EXAMINATION.
  6. DYEING & BLEACHING 1B, PAINTING & DECORATION 1B, PRINTING CRAFT PRACTICE 1B, LEATHER GOODS MANUFACTURING & REPAIR 1B AND PHOTOGRAPH 1B SHOULD BE GIVEN TO CANDIDATES AT LEAST TWO WEEKS BEFORE THE EXAMINATION DATE.
  7. USE OF SCIENTIFIC CALCULATOR IS ALLOWED.
  8. USE OF PROGRAMMABLE CALCULATOR OR ANY PROGRAMMABLE DEVICE IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED.

9. BRINGING GSM INTO THE EXAMINATION HALL IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED.

Gov Abiodun Suspends Aide Arrested In US over Alleged Fraud

Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun has suspended his Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Special Duties, Abidemi Rufai, following his arrest in New York by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) over alleged involvement in $350m unemployment benefits fraud in respect of COVID – 19 pandemic.

Reacting through his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, Abiodun said the news of his aide’s involvement in fraud is disturbing.

According to him: “We received the very disturbing news of the arrest of one of the governor’s political appointees, Mr. Abidemi Rufai in New York over alleged unemployment benefits and fraud in the United States, this morning.

“While the Governor cannot be held responsible for the actions of a full grown adult, especially outside the jurisdiction of Ogun and Nigeria, he has since suspended the suspect from office to enable him to answer the charges leveled against him.

“The Governor wishes to condemn any act capable of undermining his determination to institute an open, transparent, accountable and morally upright behaviour in the State and in governance.

“Gov. Abiodun remains committed to his agenda of building our future together and will not condone criminals either in his government or the state in general.”

Foreigners On Temporary Visit Are Exempted From NIN Registration for SIM Cards – NCC

Foreigners not staying in Nigeria for up to two years do not need a National Identification number to register SIM cards, the Nigerian Communications Commission has said.

The regulatory body said this in its Revised National Identity Policy for SIM Card Registration.

A portion of the document said, “Foreigners validly transiting through Nigeria or are employed in or reside in Nigeria for less than 24 months are exempted from the mandatory use of NIN requirement.

“Persons in this category need to provide justification that they will be residing in Nigeria for less than two years.”

However, NIN is compulsory for foreigners who have legal residency, or those who have lived in Nigeria for two years and above.

“NIN is mandatory for foreigners with legal residency status or those living in Nigeria for two years and above. For those who do not already have a NIN, operators will capture the resident for NIN as part of the enrolment process, upon presentation of the resident permit.

“Foreigners with visitor’s visas (with visa less than two years) do not require a NIN. Operators will capture the following on their records; – International passport bio-data page and visa page.

“Foreigners with diplomatic visas (including family diplomatic visas) will also require a NIN for their personal telephone lines if they are staying in Nigeria for two or more years.

“Those staying less than two years will require the following for registration of their personal telephone lines: international passport bio-data page and letter from embassy indicating that their stay is for less than two years.

“For embassies and diplomatic missions: The data page containing the passport number of the diplomatic passport of the Head of Mission/Embassy along with a Letter of Request signed by the ambassador or its equivalent for registration of the official telephone lines of the embassy /mission in Nigeria shall be submitted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for verification and confirmation and registration of the SIMs; SIM cards of the diplomatic missions are to be linked with a Corporate Diplomatic Identification Number, which will be unique to each diplomatic mission.

“Each mission will also be responsible for managing the lines and allocating them internally.”

It added that the Head of Mission would serve as the Telecom Master or Point of Contact for the Mission.

Zynga Quarterly Net Revenue Up Almost 70% YoY – $680M in Q1 2021

American video game publishing company, Zynga, got investors excited after revealing strong 2020 numbers and an exciting acquisition plan for the future. According to data presented by SafeBet, Zynga’s quarterly net revenue increased by 68.5% YoY, reaching $680M in Q1 2021.

Zynga Posted YoY Revenue Growth of Close to 70%; CAGR at almost 10% from 2018-2021

Like many in the video game industry, Zynga saw engagement spike in 2020 as lockdowns forced people to shelter indoors in many parts of the world. As a result, Zynga posted strong numbers in many metrics in 2020, a trend that has continued on to 2021. In Q1 2021, Zynga posted a record quarterly revenue of $680.3M – a 68.5% YoY increase from the $403.8M revenue earned in Q1 2020.

Q1 2021’s revenue is also a 10% QoQ increase from Q4 2020’s $616M revenue. In the period from Q1 2018 – Q1 2021, Zynga’s quarterly revenue grew at an impressive Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 9.53%. 97% of Zynga’s total revenue is generated from their mobile games which amounted to $660.7M in Q1 2021.

Zynga’s User Base Grew Significantly Since Q1 2020

Zynga’s user base also rose sharply within the same reporting period. In q1 2021, Zynga’s mobile games had 38M average daily active users (DAU) This figure is a sharp YoY increase of almost 81% from Q1 2020’s 21M average DAU. Zynga’s average monthly active users (MAU) grew even more in the same reporting period.

In Q1 2020, Zynga registered 164M MAU compared to just 68M in Q1 2020 – a staggering 141% YoY increase.

Zynga Has 8th Largest Market Share; Announces Plans to Make $250M Acquisition

As of Q1 2021, Zynga had the 8th largest market share among mobile gaming publishers in the US with a 2.09% share. The company also recently announced plans to purchase the ad-technology company Chartboost clearly signalling Zynga’s intention to enter the mobile advertising industry.

Rex Pascual, esports editor at Safe Betting commented;

“Zynga’s continued strong performance in Q1 2021, combined with publicised plans to purchase Chartboost has got investors very excited about what’s to come for Zynga. The company is well-positioned to sustain its impressive growth after not only adding an entirely new revenue stream but a very lucrative one at that.”
