APC’s Legal Chief Steps Down Amidst Controversy, Leaving Seat Open for New Appointment

Ahmed El-Marzuk

The National Legal Adviser of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Ahmed El-Marzuk, tendered his resignation from the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) on Wednesday.

The decision was made public shortly after, marking an abrupt end to his tenure in the crucial position.

Reports suggest that El-Marzuk’s resignation came under mounting pressure from fellow colleagues, who raised serious allegations against him. While the specific nature of the allegations remains undisclosed, it appears they were significant enough to warrant his departure from the NWC.

As the 12th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party convened in Abuja, speculations swirled about the potential candidates who might fill the void left by El-Marzuk.

The NEC meeting, a platform for top-level party discussions and decisions, now holds the responsibility of appointing a worthy successor to steer the legal affairs of the APC forward.
