Touch and Pay Technologies, a fintech company, has announced the launch of a new mobile app that allows passengers to pay for and reserve interstate travel in Lagos.

The app, called Cowry, automates the payment and allocation of seats for passengers, making the process more efficient and convenient for commuters.

With over a million interstate trips taken daily in Nigeria, and 40% of them originating or terminating in Lagos State, Touch and Pay Technologies aims to streamline the transportation industry by reducing the need for cash transactions and physical visits to booking counters.

Co-founder and CEO of Touch and Pay Technologies, Olamide Afolabi, expressed pride in being the first service to level the playing field when it comes to transportation in Lagos.

He noted that commuters often need to reserve tickets in advance to avoid waiting in lines, and that in the past, bus passengers had to physically visit counters and engage with attendants to book and pay for their trips.

With the new app, customers can access the details of their journey and purchase tickets from the comfort of their homes.

Touch and Pay Technologies has also partnered with the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation to accredit and vet all inter-city bus parks within the state, providing a unified system for regulating transportation routes, schedules, capacities, and prices.

This partnership ensures a more effective and comfortable public transportation system for commuters while enabling transport providers to invest in enhancing interstate travel.

The Co-founder and Chief Growth Officer of the firm, Michael Oluwole, emphasized that the interstate booking feature offers commuters convenience and enables transport providers to reduce expenses and streamline operations.

The new app can be viewed as a win-win for both commuters and transport providers, contributing to a more efficient and comfortable public transportation system.

Touch and Pay Technologies’ Cowry app is set to revolutionize interstate travel in Lagos, offering a seamless and convenient experience for commuters while driving growth and development in the transportation industry.
