Following the death of Abba Kyari, President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly appointed the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Baba Gana Kingibe as the new Chief of Staff.

The former Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari died after contracting coronavirus during an official trip to German. The 67 years old lawyer, businessman and politician served as the COS of President Muhammadu Buhari from 2015 up until his death on Friday. He was buried on Saturday in Abuja.

The Times magazine, however, reported that Kingibe, who served the nation as a diplomat, Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1993 to 1995, Minister of Internal Affairs from 1995 to 1997, Minister of Power and Steel from 1997 to 1998; and Secretary to the Government of the Federation from 2007 to 2008, has now been appointed as the new COS by President Muhammadu Buhari.
