MTN Nigeria, Africa’s leading telecommunication giant, has announced a new musical reality television show called ‘Y’ello Star to groom new generation of superstars.

Rahul De, Chief Marketing Officer, MTN Nigeria, who was at the unveiling ceremony said “We know that they’re a lot of talented people in Nigeria who need to turn up their musical careers. This platform will help launch them to musical heights. We have a wealth of experience in supporting Nigerian talent and are confident we can improve on our past successes.”

In the past, MTN Nigeria, through Project Fame, has trained young Nigerians in the art and business of music, the telecom giant (project fame) discovered renown stars like Inyanya, Chidinma, Tolu, etc.

However, lawsuits amid slow growth compelled the company to shut down the program that started in 2006 to better address tax and unregistered sim related issues.

In the new show, the company said applicants will have to send in a short recorded video of their songs to either mtnonline.com or Mymtnapp to be considered for a place in the reality show.

“Winners of the show would be entitled to not just the cash price, but also a year recording contract, a fully furnished house, a brand new car, and an opportunity to being tutored by some of the top leaders in the musical industry,” the company stated.
