- Hyundai Unveils Remodelled Sonata, Eyes Nigeria’s Market
The new eighth generation Hyundai Sonata, a four-door coupe-styled sedan that showcases Korean automaker’s ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design language, is set to be introduced to the Nigerian market.
The Head of Styling/Vice President, Hyundai Motor Company, Simon Loasby, gave the hint in Seoul Korea at the international premiere of the Sonata and E-Segment Palisade SUV.
A statement by the automaker emailed to our correspondent says the remodelled 8th generation Hyundai Sonata has undergone remarkable makeover that incorporates Hyundai’s third generation vehicle platform with inspiring appearance and improved performance.
The new platform, according to the firm, is aimed at improving the market competitiveness of the Hyundai Sonata and its subsequent models already being infused with greater flexibility, enhanced overall design, safety, efficiency and outstanding driving dynamics.
The statement quotes Loasby as saying the remodelled Sonata has brought with it fresh chapter for Hyundai’s longest-standing model and continued its global success story that started in 1985.
As a signature product for the brand, the Sonata represents Hyundai’s future design vision, which incorporates advanced safety systems and cutting-edge technology that is engineered to be seamless and intuitive in function, he adds.
The latest Sonata is said to be the first model to adopt Hyundai’s new innovative ‘third generation’ modular vehicle platform, which delivers increased strength and reduced weight to enable improvement in design, safety, efficiency and driving performance.
This is in addition to an extensive application of advanced technologies to boost comfort, convenience and active safety, just as it is said to be ranked amongst Hyundai models to premiere a new collaboration with Bose to deliver an exceptional audio experience.
Loasby affirms that the new platform rides on the dais of its predecessor, enabling a stable design with a lower centre of gravity that allows Hyundai to implement sporty and stylish design elements to the new Sonata.
The statement adds, “The new generation Sonata is also offering reduced weight and improved fuel efficiency, while achieving stronger durability with the new platform. What’s more, the platform will among other niceties deliver significant improvement in collision safety through the adoption of a multi-load path structure, ‘Hot Stamping’ and super-high tensile steel plate.
“The sophisticated multi-load path increases the energy absorbed by the vehicle in a collision thus improving safety and minimizing collision impact in the passenger cabin.”
The Vice President, Architecture Group, Fayez Abdul Rahman, said, “Through implementation of the third-generation platform, the new generation Sonata is expected to provide world-class value in overall vehicle performance.
“The new Sonata will gradually expand the use of new platform in order to provide joy of driving and comfort to the customers.”
