Container terminal operators in Nigeria said that they had waived the princely sum of N1.5bn on 500 containers carrying power equipment belonging to the Transmission Company of Nigeria.

A statement issued by the Seaport Terminal Operators Association of Nigeria said in a statement on Sunday that they waived the amount on the longstanding TCN containers in support of the Federal Government’s efforts to ensure steady supply of electricity in the country.

The spokesman for STOAN, Bolaji Akinola, was quoted in the statement as saying, “We are not unmindful of the fact that electricity is the most important commodity for national development.”
