  • Ogun Completes Repairs of Abeokuta/Lagos, Ilaro Roads

The Ogun State Government has announced the completion of the rehabilitation of some bad portions on the Abeokuta-Lagos and old Ilaro roads.

This, the government said would help ease the sufferings of motorists and other road users plying the roads.

The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Olamilekan Adegbite, in a statement signed by his media aide, Mr. Temidayo Agida, said the rehabilitation became necessary to reduce the number of hours people spend on the roads.

He said, “Though they are federal roads, yet the rehabilitation work became necessary, owing to the large volume of human and vehicular activities occurring on the roads on daily basis to make motoring safer in the area.

“It is our duty to ensure that all the roads within Ogun State are in good condition, but due to paucity of funds, we have to strategically choose the roads to be rehabilitated in terms of importance.”

The commissioner also explained that a number of federal roads had been rehabilitated by the state in the past six and half years, adding that the government could no longer wait for the Federal Government, as the affected roads were critical to the socio-economic growth of the state.

He said the state government would not relent in its efforts at ensuring that all roads, not minding their classification, were put in good shape.
