- Bosch Plans Expansion in Nigeria
Bosch, a German supplier of technology and services, has concluded plans to expand its business operations in Nigeria over the next three years.
The Managing Director, Bosch Nigeria, Ghislain Noumbessy, gave this indication at a press briefing on Tuesday while speaking on the company’s event tagged ‘Bosch in Everything’ meant to host customers and business partners in Lagos.
He stressed that the expansion plans were based on the sentiment that Bosch had found a ‘home away from home’ in the Nigerian market.
The company, in a statement, said that it was part of its strategic plans to grow its global sales turnover to €200m in Africa by 2020.
In 2016, the company had set a target of 25 per cent growth in turnover in Nigeria and €40m across West Africa.
It added that the move would provide significant value addition to the Nigerian economy and its population.
The Bosch Group’s President for Africa, Markus Thill, was quoted as saying, “With an estimated population of more than 206 million by 2020, Nigeria is a strategically important market for Bosch. Our company provides solutions in sectors such as infrastructure, automotive, food processing and energy, which enhance quality of life of the growing Nigerian population by making it safer, easier and more efficient.”
According to the company, Bosch Nigeria’s focus is to provide technology solutions to the processing industry with the benefits of reducing wastage and improving production.
In April 2014, Bosch established a regional subsidiary in Nigeria employing 50 associates in the sales, marketing and services – about five times more than at its office opening two and a half years ago.
The company said it had operations in all of its four business sectors in the country: mobility solutions, industrial technology, consumer goods, and energy and building technology.
Bosch security systems had been supporting projects from concept to design and finally implementation with its appointed partners, it stated.
