At least ten Boko Haram terrorists have been killed by nigerian troops during raids on their camps in Borno State, a Commander told a SaharaReporters correspondent.

The Deputy Commander for Counter-Insurgency operations, Major Gen Lucky Irabor, disclosed these developments at a press conference on Friday. He stated that Nigerian troops engaged the terrorists in a fierce battle around the hilly Gwoza area, leading to the death of ten insurgents.

“During the fierce of battle, 10 terrorists were killed, two AK-47 rifles were obtained, [as well as] magazines, some solar panels, and cell phones were recovered. One utility vehicle was recovered and destroyed,” Mr. Lucky said.

He added that three suicide bombers attempting to attack Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, on Friday morning were also intercepted by troops.

“Our vigilant troops gunned down one terrorist and the other two bombers blew themselves up while rushing toward troops along Mafa Road, about 1 kilometer from the capital,” he disclosed.

The military has claimed it degraded Boko Haram, though the terrorists have intensified their attacks through suicide bombing. It will be recalled that on December 26, 2015 at least thirty-five people were killed and ninety-one wounded during a bombing.
