Ondo University VC Lauds Gov Aiyedatiwa‘s N1bn Infrastructure Support

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo State, Prof. Adesegun Fatusi, has praised the State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for his substantial financial support to the academic institution.

During the official ceremony and commencement of the construction of the Senate Building on Friday, December 13, Governor Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering quality education in the state with a N1 billion donation.

According to the Governor, the donation is one of the relentless efforts to improve the education sector and will help advance the health sector in the state.

Aiyedatiwa identified education and health as the two key sectors that can drive the state towards achieving the desired development.

Promising his administration’s unwavering support for these sectors, he stated, “Health and education are two pillars that will always be prioritized by our administration because they are fundamental to sustainable development. In line with our goals, the state government will continue to support UNIMED in ways that will allow it to thrive.”

Announcing the financial support for the Senate Building complex, the Governor added: “In a significant step towards improving the university’s infrastructure, we have committed N1 billion towards the construction of the university’s Senate Building on the main campus. I have already approved the release of the first tranche of N500 million from this amount.

“This is part of our broader commitment to support quality education and healthcare at all levels. The quality of infrastructure and human resources in an institution such as UNIMED is of utmost importance,” the Governor concluded.

The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Fatusi, expressed his gratitude to the Governor for the financial support and specifically for ensuring the release of the funds to the school.

He said: “I deeply acknowledge the support of our proprietor, the Ondo State Government, and that of our amiable leader, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. Among others, I also acknowledge with gratitude the release of the sum of N250 million as a counterpart fund for the development of the Olu Akinkugbe Faculty of Pharmacy.

“We are also grateful to our Governor for the approval of N1 billion for the construction of our Senate Building and his commitment to ensuring the release of the funds,” the VC remarked.

Fatusi expressed his belief that the Governor’s support and commitment to the education sector would not only improve the quality of education in the state but also benefit the indigenes of the state.
