The executive governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, has approved the sum of ₦1.01 billion for the installation of 1,130 solar streetlights across the Awka metropolis.
The decision was made at the 35th ANSEC meeting.
According to a statement signed by Law Mefor, the Anambra State Commissioner for Information, on Wednesday, the contract was awarded to three companies to ensure efficiency and timely execution.
The statement detailed the breakdown of the projects:
- Lot 1 was awarded to VIGEO-DOME LTD for the supply and installation of 544 solar streetlights at the cost of ₦460,732,148.31, with a delivery timeline of three months after the mobilisation fee.
- Lot 2 went to FRANKTORCH NIG LTD for the supply and installation of 346 solar streetlights at ₦385,605,574.49, with a two-month delivery timeline post-mobilisation.
- Lot 3 was awarded to HONEYDOVE INTEGRATED to supply and install 240 solar streetlights for ₦163,800,279.72, also with a two-month delivery timeline after mobilisation.
The statement read: “The ANSEC also approved the memo for the supply and installation of solar streetlights within the Awka Metropolis for Lots 1, 2, and 3.”
Beyond the solar streetlight project, the 35th ANSEC meeting approved other key initiatives, including:
- Rehabilitation of the vandalised injection substation at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University.
- Provision of free internet access at the State House of Assembly Complex.
- Construction of 151 open stalls at Afuzo Market, Isuofia, to boost local commerce.
- Road markings along the Amawbia flyover and adjacent routes, awarded to Allpee International Ltd.
- Supply and installation of modern medical and non-medical equipment at Specialist Hospital, Fegge, and General Hospital, Anaku.
- Tax exemptions for businesses with capital below ₦100,000, providing crucial financial relief to support and encourage small-scale entrepreneurs.
