Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO) gained 8.6 percent on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) on Thursday as buying interest lifted the company’s share price to N152.
NAHCO appreciated by N12 per share, rising from N140 in the previous session to N152 at the close of trading.
The increase represented a one-day gain of 8.57 percent and positioned the aviation handling company among the leading gainers on the NGX.
NAHCO’s N12 increase was also the largest absolute price gain among the five leading equities reported for Thursday’s session.
Critical Minerals Financing Corporation led the gainers in percentage terms after rising 10 percent from N2.70 to N2.97.
RT Briscoe followed with a 9.55 percent increase from N8.90 to N9.75, while Caverton Offshore Support Group rebounded 8.75 percent from N4 to N4.35.
NAHCO advanced 8.57 percent to N152, while Linkage Assurance gained 7.36 percent from N1.63 to N1.75.
The gains came as the broader Nigerian equities market extended its advance.
The NGX All-Share Index increased 0.38 percent to 252,150.01 points, from 251,191.02 points in the previous trading session.
Equity market capitalisation rose by approximately N623 billion to N163.68 trillion, compared with N163.06 trillion on Wednesday.
Investors exchanged 978.29 million shares worth N50.16 billion in 48,558 deals during Thursday’s session.
Trading volume declined approximately 38.5 percent from the 1.59 billion shares recorded in the previous session, but transaction value increased about 9.5 percent from N45.82 billion.
Fidelity Bank led activity by volume after investors exchanged 335.20 million shares worth N6.91 billion, accounting for approximately 34 percent of total market volume.
On the losing side, Neimeth International Pharmaceuticals declined 7.23 percent to N7.70, while Ellah Lakes fell 5.33 percent to N8.
Mutual Benefits Assurance lost 4.65 percent to N3.28, Lasaco Assurance declined 4.44 percent to N1.72 and Wema Bank fell 3.93 percent to N30.55.
NAHCO’s 8.57 percent appreciation to N152 placed the company among Thursday’s strongest-performing equities as the broader NGX market extended its rally.
