BUA Foods Plc has announced the appointment of Isyaku Abdulsamad “Khalifa” Rabiu as Chief Officer, Global Procurement and Strategic Operations, effective January 29, 2026.

The company stated that the new role consolidates oversight of its global sourcing activities and key operational transformation initiatives.

Khalifa Rabiu will be responsible for managing the end-to-end procurement function while driving strategies focused on cost efficiency, supply chain stability, operational discipline, and long-term scalability.

The appointment comes as BUA Foods advances from a consolidation phase into a more structured expansion strategy across its core segments.

Management indicated that strengthening procurement and supply chain systems is central to maintaining competitiveness in Nigeria’s food manufacturing sector amid currency volatility, import dependencies, and commodity price fluctuations.

Prior to this role, Rabiu served as Director of Special Operations at BUA Group, where he led enterprise-wide transformation initiatives and supplier partnership optimisation programmes.

He was actively involved in raw material sourcing strategies, particularly wheat procurement, and played a strategic role in operational projects across the group’s food and agro-processing segments.

He also contributed to the establishment of a 40-metric-tonne-per-hour animal feed mill and supported the commercial reintroduction of BUA rice products into the domestic market.

Additionally, he led the deployment of proprietary digital platforms aimed at enhancing internal processes and operational transparency within BUA Foods.

Commenting on the development, Managing Director Engr. Ayodele Abioye noted that the company is entering a disciplined expansion cycle and requires strengthened procurement systems to support scale.

He stated that enhanced global sourcing capabilities will improve operational resilience and position the company for sustainable performance.

Rabiu, in his remarks, expressed readiness to implement procurement models and operational frameworks designed to deliver measurable value across the value chain.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Regent’s University London and a Master’s in Management from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.

BUA Foods Plc (NGX: BUAFOODS) remains one of Nigeria’s leading food manufacturers, producing sugar, flour, semolina, pasta, rice, and edible oils.

The company operates strategically located production facilities and maintains partnerships across its supply network to support scale and efficiency.
