Billionaire investor and Chairman of Geregu Power Plc, Femi Otedola, has increased his equity position in the company through his investment vehicle, Amperion Power Distribution Company Limited, acquiring an additional 9,038,000 ordinary shares in a cross-deal transaction valued at approximately ₦9.29 billion.

The transaction, disclosed in a Notification of Share Dealing by an Insider filed with the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX), was executed on October 20, 2025, at an average price of ₦1,027.40 per share.

The cross-deal was carried out in Lagos and represents a continuation of Otedola’s strategic accumulation of Geregu Power shares through Amperion Power, its majority shareholder.

According to the notice signed by Gbeminiyi Shoda, Company Secretary of Geregu Power Plc, the disclosure was made in compliance with regulatory requirements under NGX’s Rulebook for insider dealings by key shareholders and directors.

The purchase further consolidates Amperion Power’s controlling position in Geregu Power, reinforcing Otedola’s long-term confidence in Nigeria’s evolving electricity generation and distribution sector.

Market analysts view the move as a signal of sustained commitment to strengthening the company’s operational capacity and shareholder value amid Nigeria’s ongoing power sector reforms.

Otedola, who has steadily increased his holdings since Geregu Power’s listing on the NGX Main Board in 2022, remains one of the most influential private investors in Nigeria’s energy market.

His investment focus has consistently centered on power, energy infrastructure, and capital market expansion.

The transaction comes amid increased investor attention on Geregu Power Plc, which continues to record steady operational performance and remains the first listed electricity generation company in Nigeria.

With this latest acquisition, Otedola’s effective ownership through Amperion Power is expected to rise further, underscoring his strategic position in Nigeria’s power industry and capital markets.
