International Breweries Plc Returns to Profit, Reports ₦41.29 Billion in H1 2025

International Breweries Plc has reported a profit after tax of ₦41.29 billion for the six months ended June 30, 2025, reversing a loss of ₦47.32 billion recorded in the same period of 2024, according to the company’s unaudited financial statements obtained by Investors King.

Revenue and Gross Profit

The brewer posted revenue of ₦340.99 billion in H1 2025, up from ₦223.20 billion in the same period of 2024, representing a year-on-year growth of 52.7 percent.

Gross profit surged to ₦121.58 billion from ₦62.01 billion a year earlier, reflecting stronger sales volumes and improved cost efficiencies.

Operating Performance

Administrative, marketing, and distribution expenses rose to ₦86.23 billion, compared to ₦48.18 billion in H1 2024, as the company expanded marketing activities and distribution reach.

Despite higher expenses, operating profit improved significantly, supported by revenue growth and efficiency gains.

Other expenses were contained at ₦44.30 million, while impairment charges on financial assets stood at ₦6.21 billion, down from ₦134.01 billion in the corresponding period of 2024, when the company recorded substantial write-downs.

Finance Income and Profitability

Finance income increased to ₦9.37 billion from ₦2.66 billion in H1 2024, while finance costs reduced to ₦3.90 billion from ₦33.34 billion reported a year earlier.

This led to a net finance gain of ₦5.47 billion, a major improvement from the ₦30.68 billion net finance cost in H1 2024.

Profit before tax closed at ₦61.53 billion, compared with a loss of ₦150.23 billion in the prior year. After an income tax charge of ₦20.24 billion, profit after tax stood at ₦41.29 billion.

Earnings Per Share

Basic and diluted earnings per share rose to ₦0.25, compared to a negative ₦1.76 in H1 2024, highlighting a significant recovery in shareholder value.

Q2 2025 Performance

For the three months ended June 30, 2025, the company recorded revenue of ₦172.30 billion and profit after tax of ₦1.91 billion, compared to a loss of ₦61.81 billion in Q2 2024.
