Geregu Power Plc has announced the resignation of Mr. John Robert Lee from its Board of Directors, effective April 11, 2025.

The development was formally disclosed by the company’s Board in a regulatory notice issued to stakeholders and the Nigerian Exchange.

Mr. Lee joined the Board in January 2022 as an Independent Non-Executive Director, and during his tenure, he served as a member of both the Statutory Audit Committee and the Remuneration and Governance Committee.

The company acknowledged his significant contributions to its strategic oversight and governance framework.

According to the statement signed by Akinleye Olagbende, Company Secretary, the Board expressed deep appreciation for Mr. Lee’s professionalism and commitment to the company over the past three years.

His role in strengthening Geregu Power’s corporate structure and regulatory compliance was noted as instrumental in advancing the company’s operational efficiency.

“The Board extends its sincere appreciation to Mr. Lee for his commitment, professionalism, and invaluable support throughout his time on the Board. We wish him continued success in all his future endeavours,” the statement read.

Mr. Lee’s departure comes at a time when Geregu Power continues to pursue strategic growth initiatives in Nigeria’s evolving power sector.

The Board has not yet named a replacement for the vacated position.

Geregu Power Plc is a key player in Nigeria’s electricity generation space, and the company has increasingly positioned itself as a corporate leader through enhanced transparency, corporate governance and stakeholder engagement since listing on the Nigerian Exchange.

Further announcements regarding Board composition are expected in due course as the company continues its drive to consolidate investor confidence and regulatory compliance.
