We have been made aware of a recent publication by ThisDay Newspaper, Arise Television, and a circulating video regarding a court case filed by a customer, Dr. Agbai Eke, against FirstBank.
We categorically affirm that the allegations of fraud against the Bank, as suggested by Dr. Agbai Eke, are entirely unfounded and false. Our internal findings indicate that the matter involves unprofessional and unethical dealings between Dr. Agbai Eke and a former FirstBank employee, facilitated through a personal relationship and conducted without the Bank’s knowledge or involvement.
As the case is currently before the Court, we will refrain from further comment to allow for an impartial judicial process.
Also, the Bank has formally reported the matter to law enforcement agencies for further investigation. The suspects have provided useful statements, and investigations are ongoing.
