President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Saviour Enyiekere as the Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC).
The appointment comes as part of the administration’s broader strategy to strengthen governance and enhance oversight within the legislative arm of government.
Enyiekere, an environmental specialist and former Deputy Chief of Staff to the Senate President, will lead the commission responsible for managing human resources, appointments, promotions, and disciplinary matters within the National Assembly.
His leadership is expected to drive institutional reforms and reinforce transparency in legislative operations.
Alongside Enyiekere, 12 new members have been appointed to the commission with two representatives selected from each of Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
The appointments were confirmed in a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, on Thursday.

Strengthening Legislative Governance
The National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) plays a critical role in ensuring the effectiveness of Nigeria’s legislature, overseeing the recruitment, promotion and discipline of staff in the National Assembly.
By appointing experienced professionals, President Tinubu aims to enhance the commission’s efficiency, improve legislative administration and reinforce accountability within the National Assembly’s workforce.
Commenting on the appointment, Enyiekere emphasized the importance of strengthening legislative service operations, pledging to foster transparency, professionalism and institutional efficiency.
The new appointments come amid Tinubu’s broader efforts to reform key government institutions following last month’s appointment of chairpersons for 42 federal agencies across various ministries, including education, health and infrastructure.
As the newly constituted NASC leadership takes office, stakeholders anticipate far-reaching reforms aimed at improving legislative service delivery and enhancing Nigeria’s governance framework.
