Governor Otti Signs ₦750bn Budget Into Law for 2025, vows to Transform Abia

The Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has signed the 2025 budget valued at ₦750 billion into law following the consideration and passage of the 2025 fiscal year Appropriation Bill by the state House of Assembly.

Investors King reported that on December 10, Governor Otti, presented the ₦750 billion bill titled “Budget of Sustained Momentum” to the State House of Assembly.

Presenting the budget to the lawmakers, the Governor explained that the 2025 budget focuses on key areas that will benefit the people of the state.

According to Otti, the proposed budget aims to sustain the momentum of his administration, as indicated by the title of the Appropriation Bill.

The Governor informed the lawmakers that the budget reflects the economic hardships in the country, which have significantly affected the citizens of Abia State, adding that inputs from residents were carefully considered.

After careful consideration of the budget, the state’s House of Assembly passed the budget bill on Friday, December 27, and was signed into law by the Governor later the same day.

During the signing, Otti praised the lawmakers in the state’s House for the speedy consideration and passage of the budget, he said: “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Abia State House of Assembly for their swift and thorough review of the Appropriation Bill. This budget, with 82% allocated to capital expenditures, underscores our unwavering commitment to long-lasting infrastructure projects.

Otti stressed that the budget will greatly impact the state saying, “In 2025, significant progress will be made on projects initiated in 2023, including the Port Harcourt Road in Aba and the Umuahia-Uzuakoli-Abriba-Ohafia road, among other key initiatives.

“Together, we are dedicated to transforming Abia State and ensuring its continuous growth and development,” he concluded.
