The Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) has expressed satisfaction following the recent agreement between the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria’s (IPMAN) and Dangote Refinery.
The retailers reacted to the partnership while announcing plans by Dangote Refinery management to engage with them to explore a direct fuel supply partnership.
In a statement on Tuesday, PETROAN’s National Headquarters praised Dangote Refinery over the agreement with IPMAN.
The retailers express their support for the partnership emphasizing that it will benefit the general public.
PETROAN stated, “Factors contributing to this include recent discussions between Dangote Refinery and key industry stakeholders, as well as a reduction in the landing costs of PMS in Nigeria, reflecting global market adjustments and improvements in the supply chain.
“We once again commend Dangote Refinery for recognizing the importance of stakeholder engagement, and we are optimistic that the primary beneficiaries will be the general public.”
Investors King reported that the Dangote/IPMAN agreement was announced during a press briefing in Abuja by IPMAN’s National President, Abubakar Garima, who disclosed that the partnership will allow oil marketers to lift petrol directly from the refinery.
Garima stressed that the partnership would ensure a steady and affordable supply of PMS products nationwide.
Speaking on Tuesday, PETROAN’s Publicity Secretary, Joseph Obele, confirmed that Dangote Refinery had reached out to PETROAN President, Dr. Billy Harry, via an email proposing a meeting to solidify business arrangements in the coming days.
He disclosed that at the meeting which was described as strategic, the retailers would focus on making sure that Nigerians get affordable and quality petrol.
Obele said, “The Head of Commercial at Dangote Refinery has sent an email to the National President of PETROAN, Dr. Billy Harry, regarding an upcoming strategic business meeting.
“At this proposed meeting, PETROAN’s primary objective will be to ensure affordable, high-quality products for consumers while adhering to all regulatory standards and industry best practices.”
Obele added that the meeting could bring significant advantages for the general public, Dangote Refinery, and retail outlet owners alike.
