Bayobab Group, a subsidiary of telecommunications giant MTN Group, has announced the successful restoration of its services following recent subsea cable disruptions.

The telecom operator revealed this milestone in a statement released on Tuesday, stating its swift response to the challenges posed by the cable disruptions.

Despite the disruptions experienced on March 14, 2024, Bayobab Group managed to restore over 3 Terabits per second (Tbps) of capacity across its footprint.

This achievement underscores the company’s commitment to maintaining a resilient network and efficiently rerouting traffic to ensure minimal disruption for its customers.

Throughout the challenging period, Bayobab Group prioritized the restoration of services by swiftly activating new cables to increase inter-connectivity and establish alternative routes.

By bolstering its network resilience, the company demonstrated its dedication to connecting Africa and serving its valued customers as quickly as possible.

Bayobab’s ecosystem facilitates secure and scalable global traffic within Africa and the rest of the world, serving not only the 19 MTN markets but also third-party Mobile Network Operators, technology corporations, and other Telecoms Service Providers.

This successful restoration comes after recent disruptions to the undersea cable supplying broadband Internet connectivity to Nigeria and countries in the West African sub-region.

The disruptions led to operational challenges for banks, financial institutions, telecom companies, and allied firms.

However, with the restoration of services, Bayobab Group has once again reaffirmed its position as a reliable telecommunications provider committed to meeting the connectivity needs of its customers.
