Renowned Nigerian singer, Davido, is in hot water as he faces a N2.3 billion lawsuit from Brownhill Investments Company Limited, the organizers of the ‘Warri Again Concert.’

The legal action has been initiated following an alleged breach of contract by the artist.

Davido had been contracted to perform at the 19th edition of the ‘Warri Again Concert,’ which took place on October 6, 2023.

The lawsuit, filed at the Delta State High Court in Effurun, claims that the singer received a payment of N70 million in advance for his performance but failed to honor the commitment.

Brownhill Investments is seeking a total of N2 billion in damages, along with N150 million for legal and professional fees, and an additional N30 million to cover the cost of filing the lawsuit.

The organizers also insist that Davido must issue a public apology on his social media platforms and in two national daily newspapers for four consecutive days.

The suit reveals that the breach of contract resulted in substantial financial losses for Brownhill Investments.

The company had already invested heavily in advertising, promotions, and other expenses related to Davido’s performance.

Despite attempts to contact the artist and his team on the day of the concert, Davido did not appear as agreed, leaving the organizers in a challenging predicament.

The lawsuit remains ongoing, with the outcome yet to be determined. Davido and his legal team are expected to respond to the allegations, setting the stage for a legal battle that could have significant consequences.
