Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced the company’s plans to create top-level products focused on generative Artificial Intelligence (AI).

To achieve this, Meta has assembled a team of experts who will work on generative AI to create delightful experiences across all its different products, Investors King understands.

Zuckerberg stated that the company will focus on developing AI personas that can assist people in various ways in the long term. In the short term, Meta will concentrate on building creative and expressive tools. The company is exploring experiences with text, images, video, and multi-modal experiences, such as WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram filters, and ad formats.

Meta’s decision to create generative AI products is timely, as many tech companies are incorporating AI models into their products. For example, OpenAI’s large language models are integrated into the Microsoft Bing chatbot, Google is working on its AI chatbot Bard, Snapchat is introducing a chatbot powered by OpenAI’s latest version of chatGPT, and Baidu plans to implement its AI chatbot “Ernie” into its search services.

Meta had previously released a new chatbot called “LLaMA,” which is a state-of-the-art foundational language model designed to assist researchers in their work in the AI subfield.

Although LLaMA is currently not in use on any Meta product, the company has disclosed plans to make it available to researchers soon.

The popularity of Artificial Intelligence surged last year, as both businesses and the public saw first-hand examples of its potential applications. IDC research reveals that governments and businesses worldwide will invest $500 billion in AI technology this year.
