The Nigerian stock market extended decline on Tuesday as stock investors transacted 345,491,299 shares worth N8.291 billion in 4,184 deals.
The market value of all listed equities depreciated from N28.156 trillion recorded on Monday to N28.022 trillion on Tuesday, representing a decline of N134 billion.
While the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) All-Share Index dipped by 0.48% to 51,446.6 index points. from 51,693.08 points index points it closed on Monday.
During the trading hours of Tuesday, the FBNH was the most traded stock with 151,387,974 shares worth N169,696,0422.80. Followed by BUA Cement’s 30,458,503 shares valued at N291,9560,060.
Analysis of each sector showed banking index gained 7 basis points on the back of a positive close in the value of Wema Bank, Unity Bank and Zenith Bank.
Industrial index also appreciated by 154 basis points as Dangote Cement gained 3.05% and Cutix closed at 0.97% higher.
Consumer goods index closed in the red at -11 basis points while oil and gas index settled flat. The year to date return moderated to 0.38%. See other details below.
