The fight against destruction of oil pipelines and stealing of oil by the Federal Government of Nigeria appeared to have been yielding positive results as the nation has started making progress in oil production.

When compared to its output in early 2022, the latest revaluation has indicated an appreciable improvement in the production of crude oil.

It would be recalled that the Federal Government had lamented stalling of oil output by pipeline vandals and crude oil thieves, and directed security agencies to eradicate the menace and restore sanity in the sector.

Owing to these ugly activities, production of crude oil in the country had decreased to 0.937mbpd in September, 2022, which was described as the lowest output recorded in the country in many years.

To this end, some international firms were said to have left the country.

In March, last year, the nation had higher output when it produced 1.237 million barrels per day.

Disclosing that the country’s oil production recorded its highest quantity since March, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission said the production has risen to 1.235mbpd.

Statistics from NUPRC revealed that oil production grew from 1.185mbpd in November, 2022 to 1.235mbpd in December, 2022.

More figures from the commission showed that crude oil production, without blended or unblended condensates, in January, February, March, April, May and June, were 1.398mbpd, 1.257mbpd, 1.237mbpd, 1.219mbpd, 1.024mbpd and 1.158mbpd respectively, where as, the months of July, August, September, October, November and December recorded 1.08mbpd, 0.972mbpd, 0.937mbpd, 1.014mbpd, 1.185mbpd and 1.235mbpd respectively.
