Ahead of the 2022 World Cup scheduled to begin on the 20th of November, 2022, the International Football Organisation, FIFA has revealed that the winner of the 2022 edition of the world football competition will pocket a sum of €38 million among other benefits. This year’s world cup will be hosted by Qatar.
Apart from the benefit due to the winner, other positions which will be rewarded include the runner-up which will take home €27.2 million, the third-placed team will receive €24.4 million while the fourth-placed team will receive €22.6 million.
Similarly, any country that reached the quarter-finals but lost will be rewarded with a sum of €15.4 million while countries that would be eliminated at the round of 16 will go home with €11.7 million.
Investors King learnt that this is the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup and the most expensive so far. A number of 32 countries will be competing for the prestigious golden cup.
It would be recalled that the host country, Qatar has disclosed that it is expending a sum of $220 billion to host the most-watched sporting event in the world.
This is $208 billion higher than what was spent in the last edition in Russia. Russia stated it spent $11.6 billion to host the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Historically, this will be the first time the FIFA World Cup will be held in any of the Asian countries. The host country has done a lot of preparations to stage one of the most memorable sporting events of the century.
From new roads to new hotels, new stadiums and new airports, the oil-rich nation is about to leave a lasting impression on those who are due to visit the country for the event.
It is also reported that the government of Qatar built a new city named “Lusail” and an iconic stadium to host the final event.
Glazers Decline Sheikh Jassim’s $1.5 Billion Offer for Manchester United
The Glazers family has turned down a $1.5 billion proposal from Sheikh Jassim, a wealthy businessman hailing from the Middle East, to acquire Manchester United.
This audacious attempt to acquire 100% ownership of the iconic football club has sent shockwaves through the sporting world.
Sheikh Jassim had envisioned a grand transformation for the Red Devils. His proposal included plans to build a state-of-the-art stadium, upgrade training facilities, make marquee player acquisitions, and embark on ambitious city and community regeneration projects.
He aimed to be the “dream owner,” promising a debt-free takeover and a brighter future for the club.
However, the Glazers, who have long been scrutinized by fans for their management of Manchester United, remained unyielding in their valuation standards.
Despite the lure of a substantial cash injection and the promise of clearing historical debts, they refused to accept Sheikh Jassim’s bid.
What makes this development even more remarkable is that Sheikh Jassim was the sole bidder willing to secure complete ownership.
Other potential investors, such as billionaire Jim Ratcliffe, had expressed interest in minority stakes, a scenario that would leave the Glazers in control.
Now, with Sheikh Jassim’s withdrawal, the future of Manchester United’s ownership hangs in the balance. The Glazers may reconsider Ratcliffe’s minority offer, but this could be a contentious issue, as a sale of a minority stake usually commands a higher valuation.
The footballing world watches with bated breath to see what direction the storied club’s future will take.
In the wake of this surprising turn of events, fans, pundits, and investors are left pondering the future of one of the most prominent football clubs globally.
Sheikh Jassim’s vision may have been grand, but it ultimately foundered on the rock of the Glazers’ expectations. The coming days promise to be filled with speculation, as the Red Devils’ destiny remains uncertain.
Historic Joint Bid: Morocco, Portugal, and Spain to Co-host 2030 FIFA World Cup
In a landmark decision that promises to unite nations and celebrate the beautiful game, FIFA has officially announced that the 2030 FIFA World Cup will be co-hosted by Morocco, Portugal, and Spain.
This historic event, marking the centenary of the FIFA World Cup, will see three continents and six countries come together in a display of unity and sportsmanship.
The FIFA Council, after extensive consultation with all confederations, unanimously approved the joint bid.
These nations will automatically qualify for the tournament, pending a successful bidding process conducted by FIFA and a decision by the FIFA Congress in 2024.
Adding to the historical significance of this event, a unique centenary celebration ceremony is set to take place in Montevideo, Uruguay, where the first-ever FIFA World Cup was held in 1930.
Also, three World Cup matches will be hosted in South America, with Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay each organizing one match.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino emphasized the unifying power of football, stating, “In a divided world, FIFA and football are uniting. This joint bid sends a powerful message of peace, tolerance, and inclusion.”
The decision to unite Africa and Europe for the tournament signifies more than just a sporting event; it’s a testament to the global appeal of football and its ability to transcend borders.
While Spain previously hosted the FIFA World Cup in 1982, Morocco and Portugal are set to make their debut as co-hosts, promising a memorable tournament that celebrates a century of football history and fosters unity among nations.
The 2030 FIFA World Cup is poised to leave a lasting legacy of sportsmanship and cultural exchange.
Dillian Whyte’s Fight Against Anthony Joshua Cancelled After Anti-Doping Test
The much-anticipated fight between Dillian Whyte and Anthony Joshua has been called off following an adverse anti-doping test result for Whyte.
The Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) reported the “adverse analytical findings,” leading to the cancellation of the bout. Whyte, however, has denied taking any banned substances and is determined to prove his innocence.
The news came as a shock to both fighters and their fans. Matchroom, the organizing body, issued a statement confirming the cancellation and expressing their commitment to conducting a thorough investigation. Sky Sports News reached out to Whyte’s team for comment, but further details are yet to be disclosed.
Originally scheduled to take place at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday, August 12, the bout was expected to draw a massive audience.
Joseph Parker’s promoter, David Higgins, has expressed readiness to step in as a replacement for a rematch with Joshua, presenting an alternative option for the fans.
This setback adds uncertainty to the world of professional boxing and has raised concerns about the prevalence of doping in sports.
It serves as a reminder of the importance of stringent anti-doping protocols to maintain the integrity and fairness of the sport.
In the meantime, the sports community awaits the results of the investigation into Whyte’s case. As his innocence is maintained, the focus will remain on ensuring a clean and competitive environment for all athletes involved in the sport of boxing.
Reacting to the cancellation of his fight with Joshua, Whyte wrote: “I am shocked and devastated to learn of a report by VADA of adverse findings relating to me. I only learned of it this morning and am still reacting to it.
“I have also just seen that the fight is being cancelled without having any chance to demonstrate my innocence before the decision was taken.
“I can confirm without a shadow of doubt that I have not taken the reported substance, in this camp or at any point in my life.
“I am completely innocent and ask to be given the time to go through the process of proving this without anybody jumping to conclusions or a trial by media.
“I insisted on 24/7 VADA testing for this fight, as I have done voluntarily and at my own expense for all of my fights for many, many years.
“This is not the first time that I have been reported as having an adverse finding for a substance which I have not taken, and as I did last time I will again prove that I am completely innocent.
“In the meantime, all I can do is express my extreme disappointment to boxing fans, who will miss out on what was sure to be a great achievement.”
