The Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) rebounded from two days of consecutive declines to post a 0.28% gain as 30 stocks closed in the green.
Activity at the Exchange was mixed when compared to the previous trading session. Investors traded 336,305,180 shares worth N5.860 billion in 5,248 deals during the trading hours of Wednesday, against 754,933,491 shares valued at N3.638 billion in 4,330 deals on Tuesday.
Market value of listed equities appreciated by N13 billion to N25.485 trillion from N25.472 trillion it closed on Tuesday. NGX All-Share Index gained 0.28% to 47,287.09 index points.
Sectorial breakdown showed NGX Banking Index shed 4bps on JAIZBANK (-2.78%) and ZENITHBANK (-1.12%). Gainers were STERLNBANK (+1.31%), UBA (+1.19%), ACCESS (+1.00%) and UBN (+0.81%).
But the NGX Consumer Goods Index closed up 207bps on PZ (+3.47%), NB (+3.01%), NESTLE (+2.87%), INTBREW (+1.96%) and FLOURMILL (+1.31%).
Also, the NGX Oil and Gas Index gained 11bps on OANDO (+0.83%). The NGX Industrial shed 1bp on CUTIX (-7.26%).
The Exchange year-to-date return inched slightly higher to 10.70%. See top gainers and losers below.
