International Women’s Day: NGX Group Of Companies Celebrates Women Leaders, Call For Gender Equality

In commemoration of the 2022 International Women’s Day (IWD), the Nigerian Exchange Group of Companies has called for gender equality in areas of leadership, employment, and entrepreneurship.

The group, during a series of ceremonies held in celebration of women’s day, also appreciated and celebrated the recently appointed female Board Chairpersons and Chief Executives of listed companies and their affiliates who were appointed in 2021.

Those who were celebrated include the Chairperson of Guinness Nigeria Plc, Dr. Omobola Johnson; Chairman of Ecobank Nigeria, Mrs. Bola Adesola; Chairperson, NGX Real Estate, Erelu Angela Adebayo; Chairperson, NGX Regulation, Mrs Catherine Echeozo; Chief Executive Officer, NGX Regulation, Ms. Tinuade Awe; Managing Director, First City Monument Bank Limited, Mrs. Yemisi Edun.

Others were: Chairperson, Access Bank Plc, Dr. (Mrs.) Ajoritsedere Awosika; Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director, Cadbury Nigeria Plc, Mrs. Oyeyimika Adeboye, as well as the Group Managing Director/CEO, Futureview Group, Mrs Elizabeth Ebi.

Meanwhile, Investors King gathered that the group, in collaboration with International Finance Corporation (IFC), Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) Initiative, United Nations (UN) Women, UN Global Compact (UNGC) and World Federation of Exchanges (WFE) will be hosting a virtual symposium, in continuation of the IWD celebration.

Themed ‘Break the Bias: Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow’, the event will hold on Tuesday, 8 March 2022, with high quality male and female industry leaders expected to be in attendance and highlight the positive contributions of women across various spectrums.

The CFA, CEO of the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX), Mr. Temi Popoola is billed to speak at the event, alongside the UN Women Deputy Representative, Mr. Lansana Wonneh; the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dame Pauline Tallen; the Federal Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Nigeria, Mariam Yalwaji Katagum, amongst others.
