The over 5 million Nigerians that applied for the Batch C of N-power program will know their fate soon, according to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs Disaster Management and Social Development.
Since the application closed on August 9th, the ministry through its Special Assitant on Strategic Communication, Halima Oyelade, said it has been working on shortlisting qualified candidates.
The ministry, however, implores Nigerians to be patient given the size of applications received for Batch C. Oyelade said the ministry received a total of 5,042,001 applications from Nigerians.
Sadiya Umar Farouq, the minister of Humanitarian Affairs Disaster Management and Social Development assured Nigerians that the selection process for Batch C will be transparent and due diligence will be applied to ensure that only qualified applicants are selected.
She said, “The Honorable Minister further added that the N-Power program is aimed to provide the Nigerian youths with opportunities to gain skills for employability and entrepreneurship which will also go along way in assisting the country towards the post-Covid 19 economic recovery.”
Speaking on the unpaid exited beneficiary of Batches A and B, Farouq said the ministry is revalidating their documents to determine individual issues and make payment accordingly.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has appropriated N420 billion for the National Social Investment Programmes (NSIP) that include Npower in the 2021 budget.
Buhari said, “In furtherance of our inclusiveness agenda, the sum of N420 billion has been provided to sustain the Social Investment Programmes, while N20 billion has also been set aside for the family homes and our Social Housing Programme.”
