The Nigerian Stock Exchange set a new record on Tuesday after crossing the N17 trillion market value for the first time in over 5 years.
It was a party across the board as local investors continued to increase their holdings of Nigerian stocks and bought 578.778 million shares valued at N7.743 billion in 7,651 transactions during the trading hours of Tuesday. Also, the largest single-day trade in over five years.
The market capitalisation of listed stocks expanded by N211 billion from N16.848 trillion it closed on Monday to settle at N17.059 trillion on Tuesday. This was after gaining N641 billion on Monday.
Bringing the Exchange total gains in the last two days to N852 billion.
Similarly, the NSE All-Share Index gained 1.25 percent or 404.05 basis points to 32,647.10 bps, up from 32,243.05 bps on Monday.
In terms of volume traded, Zenith Bank led with 67.914 million shares valued at N1.621 billion. This was followed by First bank’s 64.722 million shares valued at N464.010 million. See the details below.
