Prospective Corps Members to Prepare Ahead for Orientation Camp Resumption

During the NYSC 2020 Batch B pre-orientation workshop held on Thursday in Jos with the theme “Evolving a Dynamic Operational Strategy in the Management of Camps in the context of COVID-19”, the Director-General of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Shuaibu Ibrahim, vouched that all regulations and protocols of COVID-19 which was endorsed by the Presidential Task Force (PTF) and the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) would be strictly adhered to in all the orientation camps in the country.

The Director, Press and Public Relations of the scheme, Mrs Adenike Adeyemi passed this information in Abuja on Thursday.

She quoted Mr Shuaibu Ibrahim as saying “since the outbreak of the virus in the country, the scheme did not record any case among corps members or staff.”

The NYSC DG added that there would be a continuous evaluation of conduct at the orientation camps by the management, and also put in place new strategise to ensure the success of the program this year.

He further explained that despite the challenges posed by the global health pandemic to socio-economic activities in the country and the world at large, the scheme management will consciously work to curtail the spread of the pandemic by complementing the contributions of corps members.

“Management is committed to ensuring that no camp records outbreak of the virus.

“The 2020 Batch ‘A’ Stream one orientation course was suspended abruptly on March, 18, 2020 to avoid the outbreak of COVID-19 in the orientation camps.

“In line with the current realities, our approach to the conduct of the forthcoming orientation course will focus on proper induction of corps members on core ideals of the scheme, with equal attention to the approved safety protocols.”
