Samuel-Ogbu is Nigerian Country Officer for Citigroup

The American multinational investment bank and financial services corporation, Citigroup Inc. has announced the appointment of Ireti Samuel-Ogbu as its new Nigerian Country Officer.

The appointment of Ireti Samuel-Ogbu makes it the first time a woman would be appointed to the lender’s top post after operating in Africa’s largest economy for 36years.

Prior to this appointment, Samuel-Ogbu has served as the company Managing Director, EMEA Payments and Receivables, Treasury and Trade solutions Division in London for five years.

According to Citigroup, Nigeria Unit, the new country officer, who is assuming office by September 1, replaces Akin Dawudo, the Cluster Head for Sub-Saharan African countries, who was appointed in November 2019.

The company also disclosed that Samuel-Ogbu has a “talented” and “experienced” team in Nigeria, which will assist institutional clients in the country by plugging into Citigroup’s regional and global reach.
