Seplat, Airtel, Others Bolster Stock Market to Gain NSE N135bn
Investors trading on the Nigerian Stock Exchange gained N135 billion on Wednesday as Seplat, Airtel and others closed in the green.
The Market capitalisation of listed equities increased by N135 billion to N13.115 trillion, up from the N12.980 trillion it closed on Tuesday.
The NSE All-Share index expanded by 1.04 percent from 24,883.70 basis points it closed on Tuesday to 25,141.48 bps on Wednesday. Bringing the year-to-date decline to -6.34 percent.
Investors exchanged 204,878,098 shares valued at N3.830 billion in 3,636 transactions during the trading hours of Wednesday. While, GTBank, Access Bank, Zenith Bank, FBN Holdings and Sterling Bank led the most traded stock.
However, Seplat Petroleum Development Company Plc led gainers with N35 or 10 percent gain to close at N385 per share, up from N350 it opened the day.
Shares of Airtel Africa trailed Seplat with N32 or 10 percent gain from N348 it opened the day to settle at N380 per share. While the Presco Plc rallied from N48 per share to close at N51.5 per share, adding N3.5 or 7.29 percent gain.
The Oil & Gas sector has gained the most this month, expanding by 10.67 percent. This is followed by the Banking sector that gained 5.08 percent.
