Cryptocurrency, Bitcoin, Hackers Goes After Billionaires on Twitter
Cryptocurrency hackers took their trade to Twitter as they reportedly hacked into Twitter Accounts of Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Joe Biden, Jeff Bezos, Barack Obama, Wiz Khalifa, Kim Kardashian, Apple, Uber, CashApp, Mike Bloomberg and others.
These hackers, after gaining access to those accounts with huge followers and influence, posted a message on each of the accounts encouraging followers of those account owners to send any amount to a certain Bitcoin wallet and that they would double the amount immediately.
The message posted on Democrat Presidential candidate, Joe Biden, reads “I am giving back to the community. All Bitcoin sent to the address below will be sent back doubled! If you send $1,000, I will send back $2,000. Only doing this for 30 minutes.”
Twitter Support immediately responded with a tweet saying “a coordinated social engineering attack” on employees gave a hacker “access to internal systems and tools.”
This is another blow to Bitcoin and other Cryptocurrencies as mainstream will continue to see cryptocurrencies as hackers’ created digital coins to move and fund criminal activities globally.
Also, given the accounts of personalities hacked, the expected inflow of funds from outside the cryptocurrency market will drop, hence the expected bullish run will struggle to take off in the near-term.
Here are some of the accounts hacked and messages used to deceive people into sending their Bitcoin.
