The Nigerian private companies have donated a total sum of N27.160 billion to complement government’s efforts at curbing the spread of COVID-19 in Nigeria.

Mr. Isaac Okorafor, Director, Communications, Central Bank of Nigeria, released the latest update on behalf of the Nigeria Private Sector Coalition Against COVID-19 (CACOVID) on Tuesday in Abuja.

According to the CBN document, Aliko Dangote and the central bank were two highest contributors so far with two billion naira each.

Also, Abdul Samad Rabiu (BUA Sugar Refinery), Segun Agbaje (GTB), Tony Elumelu (UBA), Oba Otudeko (First Bank), Jim Ovia (Zenith Bank), Herbert Wigwe (Access Bank) and Femi Otedola of Amperion Power Distribution donated N1 billion each to the fund.

Accordingly, Mr Deji Adeleke of Pacific Holding Ltd contributed N500 million.

Union Bank Plc, Sterling Bank Plc, Standard Chartered Bank, Stanbic IBTC, Citi Bank Nigeria Ltd, FCMB, Fidelity and ECO Banks, African Steel Mills donated N250 million each while Multichoice Nigeria Limited contributed N200 million.

Nigerians also contributed to the fund, according to the document. Some Nigerians made donations of N1,000, N500, N200, N100, N50 and as little as N1.0.
