Coronavirus related deaths rose above 40,000 in the US on Sunday, according to the latest reports.

The total number of deaths hit 40,585 on Sunday with almost half of the number coming from New York.

The number of confirmed cases in the world’s largest economy rose to 764,265 while 71,012 patients have so far recovered.

However, despite the rising number of deaths, Americans have stated protesting for more relax restrictions on lockdown, especially in less affected states.

On Sunday, President Trump tweeted in support, saying “LIBERATE MINNESOTA!” the president exclaimed in one tweet. “LIBERATE MICHIGAN!” he said in another. “LIBERATE VIRGINIA! and save your great 2nd Amendment. It is under siege!” he wrote in a third.

“I don’t know any other way to characterize it,” Gov. Jay Inslee, D-Wash. said on ABC News, expressing disbelief at seeing the “president of the United States basically encourage insubordination” against laws that are “designed to protect people’s health.”

“It is dangerous because it can inspire people to ignore things that actually can save their lives,” Inslee said.
