The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Tuesday confirmed 24 new cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation.

According to the NCDC, the total number of confirmed cases rose to 131 on Monday after 20 new cases were confirmed with two deaths. While, another four new cases were confirmed on Tuesday, March 31, 2020, to take the total number of confirmed cases to 135.

This includes the executive governor of Ogun State, Seyi Makinde.

The governor had announced through his twitter page that he tested positive to the deadly virus, and therefore, has commenced self-isolation.

He said: “I just received my COVID-19 confirmation test result. It is positive. I am asymptomatic and will continue to self-isolate.

“As at 11:15 am 31st March there are 135 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria with 2 deaths,” the NCDC stated on its official twitter page.

According NCDC breakdown, Lagos led with 81; FCT- 25; Ogun- 4; Enugu- 2; Ekiti- 1; Oyo- 8; Edo- 2; Bauchi- 2; Osun-5; Rivers-1; Benue- 1; and Kaduna- 3.
