- NSE Gains 0.19% on Tuesday Ahead of Temporary Closure
The Nigerian Stock Exchange closed slightly in the green on Tuesday as the management of the exchange announced a temporary closure of the bourse to curb the spread of COVID-19.
The market capitalisation of listed stocks gained N21 billion from N11.308 trillion it closed on Monday to N11.329 trillion on Tuesday due better than expected market sentiment.
NSE All-Share Index also appreciated slightly by 40.18 basis points or 0.19 percent from 21,700.98 index points recorded on Monday to 21,741.16 index points on Tuesday.
Investors traded 330.1 million shares in 4,561 transactions during the trading hours with the premium subsector emerging the most active by volume.
On the premium board, total shares of 160.4 million exchanged in 2,156 transactions.
The NSE had announced on Monday that physical trading on the exchange would be stopped starting from Wednesday, March 25, 2019. However, online trading would continue and all NSE staff would be available across its digital platforms to provide support.
