- Coronavirus Confirmed in Cameroon
Another African nation, Cameroon, has confirmed its first case of coronavirus despite measures to prevent the virus from most African nations struggling with limited health facilities.
Government officials confirmed the nation’s very first case after a 58-year old French man tested positive to coronavirus.
The French citizen arrived at the country capital, Yaounde, on February 24th and was immediately isolated in the nation’s central hospital of Yaounde, the Ministry of Public Health said in a statement on Friday.
More than 96,000 people have been infected globally with over 3,000 people reportedly dead. The world’s economy is projected to slow down in 2020, forcing nations like the US, Australia, New Zealand, etc to cut rates in order to support jobs and stabilise prices.
Nations like Nigeria, Angola, etc that depend on crude oil are already struggling to find buyers for their oil due to weak global demand for the commodity, especially from China, the outbreak nation.
Nigeria, Senegal, Egypt and Algeria are other African nations with confirmed cases of the fast-spreading virus.
