Jeff Bezos, the world’s richest man and founder of Amazon Inc., on Tuesday announced on his Instagram page, he will be launching the Bezos Earth Fund to fight climate change.

“Today I am thrilled to announce I am launching the Bezos Earth Fund,” Bezo declared on social media.

According to the billionaire, climate change is the biggest threat to our planet, therefore, he will be committing $10 billion to get the fund started.

He explained that experts, scientists, researchers and organisations working to protect the planet will start receiving grants from the fund to further their work.

Bezos said “this global initiative will fund scientists, activists, NGOs –any efforts that offers real possibility to help protect and preserve the natural world.

“It is going to take collective action from big companies, small companies, nation states, global organisations and individuals.”

He, therefore, announced that he is committing $10 billion of personal fund to get the project of the ground.

“I am committing $10 billion to start and will begin issuing grants this summer. Earth is the one thing we all have in common, let’s protect it, together,” the billionaire concluded on his Instagram page.

Bezos, 56, presently worth $130 billion and ranked the world’s richest man despite given about $36 billion of his wealth to his ex-wife, MacKenzie Bezos, during an amicable divorce two years ago.
