The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed positive last week despite recording two consecutive losses.

The market capitalisation of listed equities gained 0.54 percent to close at N15.256 trillion, while the NSE All-Share Index appreciated by 0.69 percent or 203.13 to 29,618.52 from 29,415.39 recorded in the previous week.

The bourse year-to-date return expanded to 10.34 percent, the strongest growth in the last two years.

Investors on the exchange traded a total shares of 2.087 billion valued at N26.470 billion in 24,262 deals during the week. This was below the 2.683 billion shares worth N32.646 billion exchanged in 30,956 deals a week before.

Activity level were mixed as value traded exceeded previous week while the total shares traded last week dropped slightly amid profit taking.

During the week, the financial services industry led week activity with 1.117 billion shares valued at N13.693 billion traded in 13,738 transactions.

While the healthcare industry trailed financial services with 521.893 million shares worth N182.965 million in 420 deals. The conglomerates industry came third with 123.606 million shares valued at N573.907 million traded in 1,164 deals.

Union Diagnostic & Clinical Services Plc, Access Bank and Zenith Bank Plc led the most traded equities with combined 877.992 million shares valued at N8.399 billion in 5,251 deals.
